In the year 2007 Lakelands Strawberry Farm and Venue was bought from Mr. Max Subel by current owners, Marthie and Kobus de Bruin.
Between 2008 and 2009 the farm was developed and the required infrastructure was implemented in order to plant and produce the sweetest organic strawberries in Pretoria.
After major success, it was quite clear that the farming activities could be extended to planting and producing fresh, organic fruit, vegetables and herbs.
In 2009, the final stages of the venue development began – this included the construction of the tea garden, kitchen, ablution fascilities and the general look of the venue area.
By October 2010, the construction of Lakelands Strawberry Farm and Venue had concluded, and the final vision was the epitome of a dream come true with the grand opening and launch of Lakeland’s first, very own strawberry festival.
The initial aim of the strawberry farm was to provide training and skills-development for young adults with learning dissabilities, which is being widely implemented today.
Our lovely Tea Garden is situated on the Lakelands Farm, surrounded by breathtaking views, wide open spaces and relaxing bird song.
Our Tea Garden offers light lunches, cakes, coffees, and a range of freshly prepared rusks, biscuits and preserves. All products are freshly prepared on the premises from our organically grown produce.
Here, an atmosphere of warmth and delight is created – creating the perfect opportunity for sharing time with family and friends, or even that special someone.
