I have very fond memories of picking fresh strawberries when I was a child, stuffing my face and filling my container until they were both full to the brim. This got me thinking of all the fresh spring berries that are available this time of year, and just where you can go to in this beautiful country of ours to pick the fruit straight off the bush!
So without further ado, here are a few upcoming festivals and working farms where you can enjoy great family outings and weekends away. They’re a brilliant way to expose children to where our food comes from and the joy of eating it straight from the plant.
Sadly, I was only able to find one confirmed organic “pick your own” farm in South Africa, but don’t let that stop you! Some fresh air, sunshine and a day out with your family is good for the soul too. Should you know of any other berry/fruit organic farms open to the public, please share in the comments below.
